NEC endorses Museveni as NRM presidential flag bearer, Chairperson

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Executive Committee (NEC) members have endorsed President Yoweri Museveni as the party chairperson and presidential flag bearer in the 2021 general elections.

The NEC members voted for President Museveni during the virtual conference that was officially opened by the President on Tuesday morning.

The former MP for Makindye East John Simbwa who had earlier expressed interest to contest for the position of the NRM party chairperson praised President Museveni as the only leader who has the potential to lead the NRM party.

NEC members had gathered at specific spots in various regions of the country. The party will hold elections for CEC members on Thursday.

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Paul Musamali, while speaking during the meeting in Mbale, advised the members to vote for people with the NRM ideology at heart.

"Do not vote for mere flagbearers but vote for people that have NRM ideology and are capable of winning seats," he said.
