Opposition supporters defect to NRM

A number of people belonging to an opposition pressure group have crossed to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

KAMPALA - As 2021 general elections draw nearer, political players have started a cat and mouse chase for votes. 

A number of people belonging to an opposition pressure group have crossed to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

While addressing journalists at Team Thorough YKM 2021 offices in Kololo on August 12, the National Chairman of the group, John Mugisha said they have managed to convince Robert Kizito, Chairman Bamwoyo Gwa Gwanga Ogwuttafa and his members to defect to NRM.

"We are NRM cadres, we use our skills to see the other political parties' weaknesses and hunt for their members whom we sensitize on NRM programs. Today, we have received 32 executive members of Bamwoyo Gwa Gwanga Oguttafa," he said.

"Bamwoyo Gwa Gwanga Oguttafa is a group formed to have one voice for development, now that we have joined NRM, we are ready to mobilize votes and add value to the party. This Saturday we will go and receive members from Masaka and surrounding regions," Kizito said.

Hilary Ainesasi, team thorough deputy coordinator in charge of mobilization says they have built structures from village to national level to help canvas votes for President Yoweri Museveni and NRM candidates.
