Elderly persons receive SAGE money

Aug 12, 2020

Elderly persons above 80 years of age on Wednesday received 6 months' payment (Sh.150,000 each) of their Social Assistance Grant Empowerment (SAGE) money.

The senior citizens based in Ntinda commended govt efforts but asked the president to consider increasing their fund.

84-year-old Miriam Nakabiri Wampamba urged her fellow elders to appreciate the little given to them since money has never been enough.

"God has been generous. I no longer work. It is not enough but we all know money can never be enough. No one, not even the government has enough money. One is better than zero and I thank the government for thinking about us."

Elderly persons 80 years and above are entitled to receive 25,000 shillings per month. Requirements include; physical appearance, with either; National Identity card, Pass Port, voters card or a driving permit.  Those who lost the above documents and appear on the register are urged to move with an LC I or a police letter.
