KAMPALA - The Directorate of Immigration and Citizenship Control under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is stuck with over 2, 000 uncollected passports.

The Internal Affairs spokesperson, Jacob Siminyu revealed on Monday, attributing the problem to reluctance of Ugandans.

According to Siminyu, the said passports belong to Ugandan citizens, who were entering the country from abroad due the COVId-19 pandemic and have never picked them back, much as they completed their 14 days of isolation.

"The owners of these passports abandoned them at the immigration offices even after they had completed their 14 days of isolation and we are bothered as to why Ugandans have failed to pick their passports even when the Ministry of Health cleared them," Siminyu said.

He urged Ugandans whose passports are with the immigration offices to go and pick them at no cost.
