VP Ssekandi rival sent to Luzira over fraud

Richard Ssebamala was on Wednesday produced before Nakawa Court Grade One Magistrate Posiono Odwori who read out the charges to him. 

A political rival of Vice-President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has been charged and remanded to Luzira Prisons on charges of obtaining money by false pretense. 

Richard Ssebamala was on Wednesday produced before Nakawa Court Grade One Magistrate Posiono Odwori who read out the charges to him. 

He denied the charges and was sent to Luzira until August 11 when he will re-appear in court to know the status of the investigations in the matter. 

Prosecution alleges that on July 1, 2019, Ssebamala obtained sh150m from a city businessman with intent to defraud. 

Ssebamala had already expressed intentions to contest against Ssekandi for the Bukoto Central Member of Parliament seat. 

Bukoto Central is in Masaka city.
