YUMBE - Yumbe district internal security officer (DISO) Ashiraf Ajobe has declined to work as the acting Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Yumbe. The development follows the interdiction of Richard Andama early this month.

Andama was interdicted by secretary in the Office of the President Hajji Yunus Kakande.

In the interdiction letter, Andama is accused of disclosing sensitive security information, being involved in corruption and unsatisfactory performance of on duty, among others.

The letter dated July 2, indicates that Andama was directed to immediately hand over office with all government properties to the DISO.

However, Ajobe said the office of RDC had not been handed over to him.

Ajobe said Andama left with the office keys and did not call him to hand over the office.

Yumbe LC5 chairperson Taban Yassin said: "I appeal to the concerned parties to speed up the investigations because the interdiction has affected service delivery."

Drasi Kalafani Ali, the LC5 councilor for Kululu Sub County, said interdiction should not block service delivery.

"We have entered the campaign season. We need the office of RDC to manage the spread of Covid-19 in the district," Ali said.

Keriwa sub-county LC3 chairperson Moses Abajo said the absence of the RDC has made it difficult to continue with Covid-19 prevention activities.

"We need support in fighting the spread of Covid-19 in terms of fuel and other logistics," Abajo said.

Andama said the matter was administrative and refused to provide more information concerning the handing over of office to Ajobe.
