The Buganda Kingdom is preparing events to celebrate Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi's 27th coronation.
Unlike in previous years, it will be attended strictly by 55 guests due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
While addressing journalists on Tuesday, at Bulange in Mengo, David Kyewalabye Male the chairman of the organising committee said: "The Kabaka has invited only 55 local guests who will attend the celebration at his palace in Bulange, Mengo on July 31."
He added that the public will be able to follow the celebrations on live broadcasts including television, radios, and social media platforms.
Kyewalabye said, this year's celebration was to be held in Ssingo in Mityana district but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this has not been possible due to the fact that it would be difficult to observe social distancing.
He further revealed that there will be a number of activities before the main celebration that includes sensitisation on coronavirus, while the Katikkiro will also open discussions with people living in the diaspora via Zoom.
As part of the celebrations, there will be thanksgiving services at Namirembe and Lubaga cathedrals to pray for the Kabaka.
