Kisoro CAO Kasozi transferred to Bukomansimbi

Kasozi will now be replaced by Ismail Musa Onzu who has been serving as CAO in Zombo district.

KISORO - The Kisoro Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Suleiman Kasozi, has been transferred to Bukomansimbi district after serving three years in Kigezi region.

Kasozi will now be replaced by Ismail Musa Onzu who has been serving as CAO in Zombo district.

An official document dated July 8, 2020, states that Kasozi has completed his tour of duty in the district.

Kasozi is expected to hand over today during the state of district address by the LC5 chairperson, at the district council hall in Kisoro Municipality.

Kasozi said his experience in Kisoro district has been memorable, adding that his transfer should not be viewed with suspicion as it is a routine activity within Local Government structures.

The CAO's transfer comes at a time when Kasozi had been away from office for more than two weeks with several highly placed sources claiming the transfer might have come following an investigation into the handling of sh514m meant for Ebola frontline workers in Kisoro.

A section of health workers at Kisoro Hospital were never paid their risk allowances and raised the issue with the Kisoro RDC, Peter Mugisha, who called for a forensic audit.

While speaking to New Vision, Kasozi dispelled such accusations, saying he was away because he was taking care of his ailing father who had just undergone a medical procedure.

"I have not committed any crimes in Kisoro. So I see no reason to be investigated. It is time for me to move on," Kasozi said.

Kisoro LC5 chairperson Abel Bizimana said Kasozi was an exemplary cadre whose door was always open to all civil servants. He also pointed out that if the investigations do implicate the CAO, he will still be answerable from his new station.

The secretary of finance and Administration who also doubles as the Nyakinama district councilor, Ida Mugenga, said Kasozi's transfer was unfair citing another recent transfer of the Kisoro municipality town clerk, Peter Matisko, on July 3.

"The central Government has left us exposed by taking away two senior accounting officers from the same jurisdiction," Mugenga said.
