KABALE - The Police in Kabale district have identified the body of the teenager who drowned in lake Bunyonyi on Monday.
Clinton Tindyebwa, 19, a resident of Omururinda cell, in Kicumbi Parish Kamuganguzi Sub County, Kabale district allegedly disappeared from his parents' home on June 29, 2020.
According to Police, the deceased's body was identified by his mother, Peninah Kamuhanda.
The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, told New vision, arrangements for postmortem are being made before handing over the body to relatives for a decent burial.
On July 6, 2020, at around 8am, the chairperson LCI of Nyinanyondu cell one, reported a case of death by drowning of an unidentified person at Kamuganguzi police station.
Later, Police officers from the mother Police Station in Kabale visited the scene and retrieved the body and transferred it to Kabale hospital mortuary pending identification.
"The deceased was putting on a Kapere shirt, navy blue pair of trouser with blue canvas and he was a bit fat, although the body had started decomposing," said Maate.
He added that investigations to ascertain the circumstances under which the deceased drowned in the lake are still ongoing.
