DESPERATION

KAMPALA - The desperate street child who passes stool through his stomach has mysteriously gone missing, New Vision understands.

Abdul Karim Kiryowa, 12, has been a regular sight on the streets of Mpererwe trading centre, the junction that goes to Kitezi town. He does not remember his parents' names, their whereabouts nor the village where he hails.

However, New Vision understands that Kiryowa was knocked down by a speeding bodaboda cyclist shortly after talking to New Vision online. He was crossing the road to buy something to eat, eyewitnesses said.

"We saw him yesterday [Thursday] evening without a shirt and he had blood all over his body," said a market vendor at Mpererwe Market.

Different people in the area that New Vision spoke to said they had seen him walking with a ball wearing stained clothes, but most of them had no idea where he spent the night on Thursday.

"He has been playing from here, but I have not seen him today. He was in a bad condition because the tube he has been using to pass urine came out," said a one Baker, a special hire driver in Mpererwe.

"The devil is a liar; someone wants to help him but now he is nowhere. I have been seeing that boy every day, but I have not seen him for two days now," said a security guard at Kobil Petrol Station.

By the time of writing this, Kiryowa's whereabouts were still unknown. When New Vision first published his moving story, many readers wanted to get involved and started contacting us to offer some help.
