The offence contravenes section (1) and (2) (a) of the Firearms Act Cap 299 and attracts a maximum sentence of ten years imprisonment, upon conviction.

The trio denied the charges prompting the prosecutors, Maj. Raphael Mugisha, Maj. Samuel Masereje and Capt. Ambrose Baguma to entreat court to adjourn the case to June 8, 2020.

"My Lord Chairman and honourable members of this court, we seek an adjournment since investigations regarding this case are still ongoing," Mugisha said.
The defence lawyer, Maj. Silas Kamanda Mutungi had no objection to the prosecution request but said the state ought to finish the investigations in time so that justice prevails.
