KAMPALA - As Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr today, Uganda People's Congress (UPC) has urged them to observe government measures meant to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Jimmy Akena, the UPC party president has advised the Muslims to avoid unnecessary movements while they merry make.
"As you celebrate this unique Eid-al-Fitr at home, please ensure and continue to observe the basic health guidelines and avoid unnecessary movements that may trigger the spread of COVID-19," Akena said.
"The fasting period has been challenging due to the virus and it's restrictions. There have been therefore crucial spiritual lessons achieved throughout this month of Ramadan.
This has not only renewed your faith but has also left a spiritual legacy to be reflected upon while carrying out your day to day activities," he stressed.
Akena commended Muslims for completing the Holy month of Ramadan in this trying time of the pandemic. "I wish you celebrations full of joyful," he said.
"May Allah accept your fasting and zakat, approve all your kind deeds, forgive your sins and ease the suffering of all individuals around the globe," he concluded.
