Museveni sacks Akol, appoints new URA boss

Using his 1.3 million followed twitter handle,@ Kaguta Museveni, on Sunday tweeted that he had appointed John Musinguzias the new Commissioner General URA.

KAMPALA - President Yoweri Museveni has appointed John Musinguzi as the new Commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), dropping Doris Akol, the outgoing Commissioner General of the tax Authority.
Using his 1.3 million followed twitter handle,@ Kaguta Museveni, the President who is the appointing authority, on Sunday tweeted that he had appointed John Musinguzi as the new Commissioner General URA, replacing Doris Akol.
"By Virtue of powers granted to me by the constitution, I have appointed Mr John Musinguzi Rujoki as the new Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA)," Museveni tweeted.

In his tweet, the president indicated that Musinguzi's appointment as the new Commissioner General takes immediate effect.
Prior to his appointment, John Musinguzi has been serving as a Senior Presidential Adviser, Investment and ICT.
To confirm her replacement, the outgoing Commissioner General took to her official twitter handle Doris Akol @URA_CG and said she was privileged to have served Uganda as the Commissioner General URA.

Akol further tweeted that; "May blessings and wisdom abound for you, John. Signing out. D. Akol".
The outgoing Commissioner-General, who has served the tax body for the last five and half years, was appointed by President Museveni in 2014, replacing Allen Kagina, who retired after 10 years at the helm of URA as the Commissioner-General.
From 2012 until 2014, Doris Akol was the Commissioner for Legal Affairs and Board Matters at the Uganda Revenue Authority.
