Couple arrested over fake coronavirus sanitizer

KAMPALA - The Police in Kampala have arrested a couple for allegedly selling a fake sanitizer claiming that kills coronavirus.
Stephen Night and his wife Aisha Namawejje, who are being held at Katwe Police Station were arrested Thursday morning.
The operation followed intelligence information that a company was making fake sanitizer, prompting the Police to take action.
Night and Namawejje are owners of Archery laboratory supply, which deals in laboratory supplies.
According to the Police, the company is registered but they would consult with Uganda Registration Services Bureau(URSB) to find out the items the company is supposed to deal in.
Some of the medicines recovered at Night's home include one labeled Lifecare diagnostics and others in unmarked containers.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said their investigators at Katwe Police Station are looking for more information before they could prepare a charge sheet for the suspects.
