Two dormitories at Gayaza High School; Kennedy and Corby were on Friday evening burnt by a fire whose cause was not yet known by press time.

The fire broke out at around 8 pm when most of the students were attending their evening studies. Police. Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the fire outbreak, but that the police team had dispatched its officers to help fight it out.

"Our team is now rushing on the ground to try and put it out. We shall communicate once we have all the relevant information," Onyango said.

The New Vision has learnt that students' property in the dormitories were destroyed but no one was hurt.

Several parents rushed to the school to try and pick their children but they were blocked at the gate after the assurance by both the school and police that the situation was under control.
