There was chaos in Parliament this afternoon when two men suspected to be members of the red top brigade, a ragtag group that supports some opposition politicians, jumped from the gallery and fell into the chambers as MPs debated in their afternoon session.

This happened at about 4:30 pm as MPs debated a document submitted to Parliament by lands state minister Persis Namuganza.

The two suspects jumped into the side where the MPs of the ruling National Resistance Movement sit.

The two wore red berets. There was a scuffle as the MPs tried to confront the two men. Security came in and the two were whisked away.

Nansana Municipality MP Ssebunya Kasule says it was an act of intimidation and desperation.

Parliament speaker Rebecca Kadaga says Sergeant at Arms will give a final report and advise the MPs on the next step. She told Parliament to continue with business as usual.
