Former Kabale District forestry officer murdered

When the Police went to carry out investigations, the crime scene had been tampered with.

Shock gripped residents of Kashenyi village, Kicumbi parish in Kamuganguzi sub county Kabale district on Wednesday when a 63- year-old man was found dead outside his latrine.

The deceased has been identified as Michael Besigye, a parish councillor for Kicumbi in the Kamuganguzi Sub-County council.

According to the deceased's wife Agatha Oworinaawe, he woke up at around 5:00 am to ease himself but did not return until morning.

"When I went to check on him, I was shocked to find him in a pool of blood outside the toilet," she said. Oworinaawe then sounded an alarm calling on people to go her rescue. 

The Kabale District Police Commander, Brian Ampaire said that the crime scene had been tampered with, by activities of residents after the murder.

Ampaire then ordered for the arrest of four people who aided in the movement of the deceased's body from the crime scene to his house. 

"We came here to investigate this gruesome incident but some of you tampered with our investigations in the way you conducted yourselves at the scene," said Ampaire.     

According to the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, the Police recovered a panga that is suspected to have been used in the murder. A post-mortem was conducted as inquiries continue in the exercise.

An investigation file with reference number Kamuganguzi SD 03/12/02/2020 has been opened up to follow up the incident.
