How to better report on swimming.
In bid to improve on the knowledge about swimming and journalists reporting facts in the sport, the Uganda Swimming Federation has conducted a day-long course for sports journalists.
Over 20 Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) members attended the workshop held at the federation offices in Kamwokya.
"It was a good workshop because I can now differentiate between back stroke and breast stroke," said Ronnie Mayanja.
He appealed to other sports federations to emulate swimming and conduct such sensitization workshops for journalists in order to improve on accuracy during reporting.
Federation president Donald Rukare said that many journalists want to cover swimming but they are thrown back by the lack of knowledge of the sport.
He added that his federation will regularly train journalists and the hope is the it will improve the publicity of the sport.
