KAMPALA - Stella Oyella and NIC where the stars of the show as the Uganda Netball Federation awarded the best performers of 2019 in an awards ceremony that took place at Namboole on Saturday.

NIC player Oyella was recognised as the most outstanding player for her efforts for the national team at the World Cup and the Africa Netball Cup.

"For me, these accolades are all about hardwork and putting God first because God is everything and without Him I couldn't have made it," she said.

"I am also grateful to my teammates who are there to support me and we worked as team."

Oyella's effort was so impressive that guest of honour Patrick Ogwel, the National Council of Sports general secretary, pledged to give the She Cranes player sh2m for representing the country well.

The goal attack's service to country could not go unrecognised because she played as a centre player both at the World Cup and the Africa Netball Cup, during which she picked up player-of-the-match performances.

Following a successful showing at centre for Uganda in 2019, Oyella insists she has no preferred position and will galdly play wherever she is fielded by any of her coaches - whether with NIC or the national team.

NIC received their league title along with sh3m from the National Council of Sports.

They were also rewarded for being the smartest team during the season while members of the She Cranes where commended for a job well done as well.

Ogwel also promised that National Council of Sports will continue holding netball's hands as one of the countries priority sports.
