Sh2m cash prize up for grabs in Pool Table opener

In the men’s category Dan Mubiru, Allan Katongole, Fahad Ssewakambo, Joseph Kasozi, Ceasor Chandiga, and Amos Turyagumanawe are expected to challenge Bwanika aka Muto.

The D' Arena Bar and Lounge on Namirembe road will play host to the Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) season opener that is now the PAU Empire Casino Kampala Open Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, January 4-5, 2020.

Pool Clubs will renew their rivalry in the quest for the huge cash prize that has been awaited for a long time since the shakeup in management of the sport last year.

The two-day tournament will have the winner receive a trophy and sh2m cash prize while the second, third and fourth will receive sh1m,sh500,000 and sh250,000 respectively in the men's category.

In the ladies category, the winner will receive sh1.2m, while sh600, 000, sh300, 000 and sh150, 000 will go the second, third and fourth respectively.

The ranking tournament is expected to attract all the cream de la cream of Uganda's pool and defending champions  Mansul Bwanika and Rashida Mutesi should expect stiff opposition.

"This is going to be a tough event since it's a ranking event we expect all top players in the male and female categories to participate," Peter Kyobe the association publicity noted.

Ritah Nimusiima, Victoria Namuyanja, Shiela Ankar, Amina faith Nganda, Angela Busingye, Jacinta Kajubi, and Lukia Nayiga are some of the players likely to give Muteesi hard time.
