Eight teams to take part in FUFA Women Super League

 

 

The new league replaces the old FUFA Women Elite league that was founded in 2015.

 

According to the new league format, it will comprise of eight teams, these shall include the top four teams of last season from the Elizabeth and Victoria group respectively.

 

In Elizabeth Group, Elizabeth Group, Kampala Queens finished first, UCU Lady Cardinals second, Olila High School third and  Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga fourth.

 

Kawempe Muslim Ladies topped Victoria Group, followed by Lady Doves WFC, She Corporate WFC finished third and Muteesa I Royal University taking the fourth spot.

 

The federation also made it clear that the two bottom teams at the end of the season will be relegated to the FUFA Women Elite League, in this situation the ‘Elite League will be like FUFA Big League as it is in Men's football.

 

In Men's football, the FUFA Big League is the one that produces the best three teams to join the Uganda premier league at the end of every season, replacing the three that have been relegated from the top flight.

 

The launch was presided over by FUFA president Engineer Moses Magogo, his vice presidents both first and second respectively and ‘Take Flight' Project Manager Jean Sseninde.

 

During the launch ceremony, Magogo noted that as a federation, they are committed to building women football in Uganda and believes the new initiative will yields positives very soon.

 

"It is another victory for us as FUFA, observed Magogo".

 

 "It is our vision to become a number one football nation in Africa on and off the pitch and that can be achieved through development, funding, capacity building and protecting the game" added the FUFA boss.
