Thank you for wonderful work, Kabaka to Nnabagereka

As they celebrate 20 years of marriage, the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi has sent a message of gratitude to the Nnaabagereka (Queen) Sylvia Nagginda for her dedicated service to advance the Kingdom.

In a message, published in Bukedde, ( Luganda daily), Kabaka was keen to point out that Nnaabagereka has been serving the Kingdom for the wellbeing of its people for the last 16 years.

Mutebi married Nagginda on August 27, 1999, in a colourful ceremony that is believed to be among the century's biggest celebrations in the country, at St. Paul's Cathedral in Namirembe.
He said: "let's join Nnaabagereka in celebrating 16 years of dedicated and courageous service to Buganda. We are delighted for the energy, dedication, and foresightedness she has deployed in every single task she has spearheaded in these 16 years."

The Kabaka added that Nnaabagereka's track record is backed by empirical evidence to attest that her efforts have resorted hope among the youth especially the girl child to study, play, work hard and brilliantly prepare for their future.

"With love and joy, Nnaabagereka has touched the lives of several people. We thank Nnaabagereka for bolstering efforts to change people's livelihoods. We wish her more success in all her endeavors," the Kabaka said.

Through her Nnaabagereka Development Foundation (NDF), the Nnaabagereka is credited for introducing Ekisaakaate Kya Nnaabagereka (EKN) program to nurture young girls and boys as responsible citizens that appreciate culture and language.

The mentorship camp that started about 12 years ago, is said to have groomed over 13,516 young people locally and in the diaspora, as a way of answering the pleas from parents that don't fulfill their tasks.

Participants are trained in handling domestic chores including cooking and self-hygiene, financial literacy, sexual education, good conduct, art and craft making.

Other areas that the Nnaabagereka equips youngsters with include decorum and etiquette, leadership, health, fitness, and nutrition.

NDF is also the brain behind several campaigns against HIV/AIDs such as He-for-She where husbands are encouraged to get involved in ensuring the reproductive wellbeing of their wives and the Obuntubulamu program that rallies cultural leaders across the country to advocate for humanity through humility, social behavior change, and hard work.

Nnaabagereka was born November 9, 1964, to John Luswata and Rebecca Nakintu in London but raised under the watchful eye of her affluent grandfather Nelson Nkalubo Sebugwawo, a rich landlord in Nkumba along Entebbe road.

She attended Lake Victoria Primary School in Entebbe and Gayaza junior School before joining Wanyange Girls School for her O and A levels.

The Nnaabagereka respectively holds a Bachelor of Arts, associate degree and Master's Degree from York University, City University of New York and the New York Institute of Technology all in the US.

She is currently a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), champion in the Campaign to End Pediatric HIV/AIDs (CEPA) and a core member of both the African Philanthropy Forum and Global Thinkers Forum.
