On Wednesday history beckons for Uganda in the inaugural CECAFA U-15 Championships when the boys face Burundi in the semi-final.

Coach Jackson Magera and his charges have performed impeccably well in the 10 team competition over the last week and have emerged favourites going into the semi-finals.

"Players have been doing well because we concentrate a lot on smart defending and proper combination play. That is why we have scored at least three goals a game and we have not conceded," Magera said.

Their 13-goal haul with no goals conceded is the best record in the tournament. They are the only side in the competition to win all their matches so it gives the team the confidence they need.

"We have been defending well and scoring and in order to go to the final, we have to win. Winning simply means you have to score and don't concede. So while the previous performance from the group stages has been tremendous, I think God willing if we carry that spirit, we can go to the final," he added.

The top scorer in the competition is Abasi Kyeyune with six goals and his eye for goal will be vital in this match more than ever.

The other semi-final will be contested by Rwanda who Uganda defeated 3-0 in the last match of the group stage and Kenya who topped Group A.
