Experts say right from clothes that people look at as old and they throw, they can also be used to earn someone an income.

KAMPALA - Many times, people cry of being unemployed but little do they know that they can earn a living if they pay attention to the things around them.

Experts say right from clothes that people look at as old and they throw, they can also be used to earn someone an income.

However, one asks how this can be possible. For people like Agnes Mutesi, she notes that one can make doormats using old clothes.

She explains that it easy to make and very rewarding in terms of making income.

She adds that one needs a polythene sack and a pair of scissors to cut clothes into small pieces.

To make a good doormat, Mutesi says one should put together all the materials needed, cut the clothes into small pieces that will be sewed to a polythene sack one. Continuous attaching makes the doormat thicker and better.

Mutesi says that after that, one is able to make money by selling the doormats.

Besides making doormats, Lydia Nakawasi says one can make wall hangers using old clothes to make money.

She explains that it's easy because one simply needs some timber, paint, glue, nails and then bring out the art in you.

She says it doesn't matter what type or colour of the cloth, simply cut it into pieces of different shapes to make wall hangers of different types.

She adds that after that, cut the timber into small pieces and ensure that they are of the same size and length in order to help you hold the cloth so that you can make a good wall hanger.

After this, colour the cloth with any colour and then draw anything on it that has an interesting message to the buyer.

She adds that after, allow it to dry and then place it on the display for buyers to view it, love it and buy it.

She adds that to some people who think that these are cheap, no they are not, they are sold at sh50000 to sh150000.
