KAMPALA - The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga quietly came back on Saturday after spending three weeks at Aga Khan Hospital following a health emergency in the wake of a whirlwind trip to Rabat and New York last month.
According to Kadaga's Principal Press Secretary, Sam Obbo, the Speaker of Parliament who doubles as the Kamuli district woman MP is in a much better shape.
Speaking to New Vision earlier today, Obbo was guarded about how long Kadaga will spend away from her official duties recuperating.
"Its only her doctors who can answer that question. But she is back and resting," Obbo said.
New Vision has learnt that Kadaga is recuperating at her home in Muyenga - an upscale Kampala suburb.
Kadaga was taken ill on March 21 and was first hospitalized at Nakasero hospital in Kampala following her return from trips in New York, USA and Rabat, Morocco. She was later airlifted to Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
A few hours after getting hospitalized at Nakasero, President Yoweri Museveni visited her opening a flood of dignitaries that sought to check on her.
However, many were turned away as Kadaga was said to be in intensive care.
A lawmaker since 1988, Kadaga belongs to a privileged club of Ugandans who have spent a considerable part of their adult lives at the very top of Government.
Kadaga has served as minister and deputy speaker before her ascension to the top of the legislature in 2011.
