Seven in for back to back USPA honours

Seven of the athletes on the list of awardees for this year’s gala will be receiving awards.

 It will be business as usual for a number of athletes as the annual Nile Special USPA Sportsman of the Year gala is held at the Imperial Royale Hotel on Friday.
 
Seven of the athletes on the list of awardees for this year's gala will be receiving awards in their respective disciplines, back to back, having excelled in their disciplines over the last two years.
 
Among them are bodybuilder Isaac Mubikirwa and Male Rugby Player of the Year Phillip Wokorach who return, having won the Mr. Uganda championship over the past two years and for helping Uganda defend the Africa Sevens title as Uganda qualified for the 2018 World Cup Sevens respectively.
 
Badminton players Brian Kasirye and Husnah Kobugabe, as well as kickboxer Patricia Apolot, will also be returning on the podium to pick similar awards like they picked last year.
 
Basketballer of the year Ivan Enabu, and Hockey player of the year Doreen Mbabazi will also be treading on familiar ground having excelled more than the rest.
 
Male Cricketers of the year Riazat Ali Shah and Immaculate Nakisuuyi, volleyballer of the year Habiba Namala, tennis player of the year Boris Aguma as well as woodball players of the year Watson Mugume and Denise Nanjeru will be making their debuts on the USPA podium.
