Police is investigating a case in which a primary school teacher who was grazing his goats was hacked by an unknown machete-wielding assailant in Mityana district.

The Wamala region Police spokesperson, Norbert Ochom, said the victim, identified as Irene Nakigozzi, a teacher at Anex Primary School, was found dead with a deep cut on the neck. The motive of the gruesome murder is still unknown and so far, no suspects have been arrested.

According to Ochom, the murder case MTN/CRB/193/19, was reported by the deceased's husband Ronald Mawejje, 47, also a teacher at the same school and a resident of Ngugulo Parish in Kakindu, Mityana district.

Preliminary Police findings indicate that the deceased left her home at 4:00 pm to check on her goats at a farm on Thursday last week and failed to return home.

According to Ochom, the deceased's disappearance prompted her husband to mount a search for her, and unfortunately, she was found dead.

Her body was taken to Mityana Hospital for post-mortem, pending ongoing inquiries.
