Father kills biological son, commits suicide

Deceased’s relatives claimed that Muhangi was possessed on Monday evening and relatives had prayed for him to retain his normalcy.

KAKUMIRO - Residents of Mukore village in Nkooko sub-county, Kakumiro district were left in shock after a 35-year-old man allegedly beheaded his 3-year-old son before taking his own life on Tuesday morning.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Evaristo Muhangi a resident of Mukore village in Nkooko sub-county, Kakumiro district beheaded his son Onesmas Twinamatsiko, but the cause of such gruesome murder is yet to be established.

Najjib Waiswa, the Kakumiro district police commander told New Vision that they received a call from a resident about the incident and rushed to the scene of murder.

However, Waiswa said that the deceased's relatives claimed that Muhangi was possessed on Monday evening and relatives had prayed for him to retain his normalcy.

Waiswa said that police is not taking this incident lightly because it could be a manifestation of a bigger problem in society.

There are reports that Muhangi had developed some mental disorders which could have resulted into the heinous act.

The police crime report 2017 indicated an increase in homicides from 4,315 to 4,473 with an increase of 158 cases comparing 2017 and 2016 crime reports.
