Museveni mourns Ethiopian Airlines crash victims

A post on President Museveni’s official twitter account reads, “I have, with sadness, received news about the crash of the Ethiopian Airlines flight which was destined for Nairobi from Addis Ababa.

TRAGEDY | PLANE CRASH

KAMPALA - President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has mourned  persons who perished in a plane crash in Ethiopia this morning.

Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 took off at 8:38 am (0638 GMT) from Bole International Airport and "lost contact" six minutes later near Bishoftu, a town some 60 kilometres (37 miles) southeast of Addis Ababa by road.

All the 149 passengers and eight crew died when the Nairobi-bound Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 that crashed shortly after takeoff from Addis Ababa.

One of the victims is a Ugandan whose identity has not yet been made public.

A post on President Museveni's official Twitter account reads,  "I have, with sadness, received news about the crash of the Ethiopian Airlines flight which was destined for Nairobi from Addis Ababa. On Uganda's behalf, I send heartfelt prayers and condolences to all those affected by this tragedy."
