Islamic University in Uganda will Thursday host St. Lawrence University in Group B action of the Pepsi University Football League with both teams in search of their first wins of the season.

St. Lawrence who finished third last season were held to a 1-1 draw by former champions Uganda Martyrs in their previous game while IUIU held Gulu to a goalless draw away.

This is the first meeting in the league between the two sides and IUIU coach Kebba Harunah believes his side has what it takes to bag all three points from the game.

"Obviously St. Lawrence are a good team having finished third last season so I can say we are the underdogs in this game. However I believe that at this stage of the competition we shall be able to do well against them especially since we are playing at home," he said.

St. Lawrence coach, Nnono Ssozi is keen on maintaining the momentum from the last season.

"Last season we had a very good run and it was disappointing not to make it for the finals. This season we want to go all the way to the finals but first we have to qualify from the group," Nnono said.

Action in the UFL will continue on Friday when YMCA Comprehensive Institute host Bishop Stuart University at their Buwambo campus.
