The Black Pirates Rugby Club, who start the second round of the Nile Special Premier Rugby League against Walukuba Barbarians today, is targeting a winning run in all nine matches.
Team captain Ivan Magomu told New Vision that the team is in good shape with a mission to defend the title won last year.
"Those who had written us off the trophy should think twice. We have lost only two games at the moment and are ready to overturn the defeats we suffered in the first round," the fly half stated.
Pirates are in third position on 33 points, seven behind table leaders Hima Cement Heathens (41) and six lower than Betway Kobs (39pts) in second position.
Dusupay Warriors on 27 points are fourth while Toyota Buffaloes are a step below on 19.
In the other games today, Kobs host Jinja Hippos at Legends Rugby Club before Shell Rimula Rhinos entertain Warriors.
In Entebbe, Plascon Mongers host Mulago Rams in the relegation zone battle.
"Mongers are fighters especially at home but we are up for the challenge because we want to win," Rams coach/player Richard Lumu said.
