Nemostars without Tumukunde for Africa Club Championships

This means that they will be a man short in terms of fire power

When Nemostars Volleyball Club took part in the Africa Club Championships last year, they were in the company of UCU attacker Jonathan Tumukunde as they finished in a respectable 15th place.

Tumukunde was inspirational as he and the team's captain, George Aporu, came together to wreak havoc on opposing teams. This year he will stay with UCU who are also participating in the championships.

This occurrence means that they will be a man short in terms of fire power and Aporu may have to carry the biggest share of his side's offensive game.

"I will most probably fill the gap and someone else may have to play my position. But as a team, we are trying to groom young talent," Aporu said.

Last year, Tumukunde came into the side and added more punch to the likes of Tom Amou so his absence will be felt.

The Ugandan teams that will take part in the tournaments have an estimated budget of about sh100m if they are to travel for the championships.

UCU Doves captain, Moses Odeke, also confirmed his team is back in training and is raring to go.

Teams have to confirm participation by paying a participation fee of about $1000 in order to enter the competition. No team will take part in the competition without clearing the fee.

Teams are expected to confirm their participation by the March 5 for seamless planning.
