Makerere to assist students search for jobs

KAMPALA - Makerere University students will move with their heads high since the university has promised to help them in the job hunt, which will help them to combat unemployment.

The Vice Chancellor of Makerere University Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe promised to set up a liaisons desk in his office where they will be able to source employment opportunities for graduates.

He was presiding over the fourth and last day of the 69th Graduation ceremony of Makerere University on Friday where students from the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHUSS) and School of Law (LAW) were graduating in various disciplines.

Nawangwe who applauded the students for their achievement, advised them to move with ideas ahead of them that will help their communities to shrive.

The VC also commented on discipline saying the biggest obstacle to development in the country is the indiscipline of the elites.

However, he boosted of Makerere having the most disciplined students in the country currently. He also promised not to waver in their determination to restore total sanity and respect in the university.

Nawangwe was grateful for the improved engagement between Makerere University and the Government agencies specifically sighting the Uganda Peoples Defense Force (UPDF).

"I thank the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen. David Muhoozi and all his colleagues for collaborating with us in providing high education to our armed forces," Nawangwe said.
