COURT TREASON PROPERTY
A woman stunned Gulu Grade One magistrates' court on Thursday when she demanded that the Police produces her two underpants that were lost during her arrest.
She says on August 13, 2018 during the Arua election-related fracas, the Police arrested her and she accuses the regional Police commander of taking her property.
A councillor in the Arua district council, Night Asara, 38, is among the 32 suspects who had gone for the hearing of their case in Gulu.
Other suspects include MPs Kassiano Wadri (Arua municipality), Zaake (Mityana municipality), Geraldd Karuhanga (Ntungamo municipality) and Robert Kyagulanyi (Kyadondo East).
The group is accused of treason in connection to the evenst that led to the damaging of a vehicle in President Yoweri Museveni's motorcade.
Asara said among other items confiscated by security included sh38, 000=, a Local Government Act and Standard Rules of Procedures and her bag with other documents and contents.
Her mention of the underpants confiscated, sent the courtroom, including the magistrate, Isaac Emerald Kintu, into prolonged laughter.
Other properties listed as missing include Kyagulanyi's wedding ring, golden wrist, cash worth shs3.5m, $600, two smart phones, two cars as well as Wadri's shoes, sh85m and two phones.
The ordered the office rin-charge of Criminal Investigations in Arua and Gulu Police stations to appear before court with answers of the missing property. He adjourned the case to March 19, 2019.
