Flights resume at Entebbe after over 10 hours of delay

Flight operations have resumed at Entebbe Airport following an early morning landing mishap involving Ethiopian airline.

Several flights were delayed when the Ethiopian Airlines Flight No. ET 338, a Boeing 737-800 Aircraft, overshot the runway on landing at 12.41 am.

According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) the plane was removed from the runway end at 10.15 am and flight operations resumed.

"Please proceed with your scheduled flight in and out of Entebbe International Airport," reads a twitter post on CAA's account.

It took over 10 hours for flight operations to be restored as technicians worked to restore sanity including towing the plane to the ramp. 

CAA's Public Relations Manager Vianney Luggya said all 139 passengers and crew aboard were safely deplaned.

All incoming flights to Entebbe airport were delayed or rerouted to neighboring airports.

The cause of the incident is not yet known.
