Come for vacations in Uganda, Ssekandi tells Chinese

CHINA  STUDENTS VACATIONS

The Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has called for scientific collaboration between Uganda and China, saying Uganda has a sizeable number of scientists, but their limitation has been the necessary tools to enable them meet their targets.

Ssekandi, who was today speaking at Jianghan University in the Chinese city of Wuhan called for joint China scientific research and collaboration between the Chinese and Ugandan scientists, especially in areas of health, agriculture defence, saying university collaborations would be key in facilitating the process.

Quoting from President Xi Jinping common line of shared future. The Vice-President said the youth have a key role to play in providing a predictable and reliably sustainable future, adding that science and technology will also be crucial tenets for any development in future.

He invited Chinese students to visit Uganda for their vacations and research periods, saying Uganda was a unique, but naturally gifted country with wildlife ranging from mountain gorillas, tree climbing lions, birds to the longest river in Africa, which they should explore and also invited more for the next year's dragon boat festival.

Jianghan University has for the last two consecutive years been sending students to participate in the Uganda Dragon Boat Festival, which has been attracting reasonable participation by both local and Chinese teams.

The Vice-President also held a meeting with Ugandan students studying in various Universities whom he advised to take advantage of the Chinese goodwill and increasing projects in Africa and position themselves for possible placements since they can speak both Chinese and English, but also with vast knowledge of Africa.

He also urged Ugandan students and those staying and trading in China to always be good ambassadors of Uganda by avoiding questionable activities and behaviour so that their stay in China is enjoyable and contribute to the good relationship existing between the two countries.

The Vice-President is the Chinese South Western Province of Hubei where he has been meeting with leaders from world leading cities gathering in the provincial capital Wuhan for International Friendship Cities Conference 2018.
