Uganda v Singapore
The Cricket Cranes are walking a tight rope in the ongoing ICC World Cricket League Division Three in Oman.
Neighbours Kenya subjected the Ugandans to a 6-wicket victory Tuesday at Al Amarat to force the latter to a distant fourth position on the log.
The day began on an emotional break down when the ICC panel of experts suspended uganda's top bowler Irfan Afridi for illegal action (suspect bowling) following a review of his innings against Denmark where he was forced to bowl one over.
A lack of solid batting continues to prevail with Uganda managing only 177 for the loss of 9 wickets courtesy of Kenya's duo of Shem Ngoche and Sachin Bhudia who picked 2 wickets apiece.
Left hand batsman Dinesh Nakhrani at number five returned a commendable half century from 71 balls. Tail enders Charles Waiswa and Hamu Kayondo were undefeated at 22 and 9 respectively although this did not help pile enough winning runs.
Kenya's chase was ignited by a man of the match performance from Irfan Karim who was undefeated at a half ton of 59 from 1178 ball.
Nelson Odhiambo equally impressed as his half ton of 53 from 68 balls got the score board moving further to 178 for Kenya to win with 25 balls to spare. Uganda are now tied on 2 points with Kenya.
It is important to note that the top two qualify for division two as the last four play in the 2019-2021 ICC Cricket World Challenge League which forms part of the qualifying cycle for the 2023 World Cup.
