KAMPALA - Uganda Cranes midfielder, Farouk Miya started on a good note with his new club  Hrvatski Nogometni Klub Gorica (HNK Gorica).

Miya who joined the Croatian side a week ago scored on his debut as Hrvatski Nogometni Klub Gorica beat FC Petrolul Ploiești of Romania 1-0 in an international friendly match.

Miya joined HNK Gorica last week from Belgium top tier side Standard Liege on a two-year contract with an option of a one year extension.

"Farouk Miya (20) is a new player to our club. He comes from Belgium where he performed for Standard de Liège and Royal Excel Mouscron.

"Farouk also went to Azerbaijan where he played for FC Sebail,"read the official communication from HNK Gorica.

Joining HNK Gorica was one of the good decisions Miya took since he had little playing time when he left Vipers  sports club to sign for Standard de Liège. On so many occasions, he was loaned Royal Excel Mouscron and Sebail to give him more playing time.

Miya's return in terms of fitness and scoring form is likely to give Uganda Cranes coach Sebastian Desabre more options ahead of Tanzania on September 7 at Mandela National stadium, Namboole in the 2019 AFCON Qualifiers.

HNK Gorica is currently in the pre-season preparing for  the new season.
