Nabbingo's Goretti house wins schools' sports gala

MUKONO - Goretti house collected 626 points to win the Trinity College Nabbingo schools' sports day gala held at the school on Sunday.

The victors came out on top beating defending champions, Margaret house.

Margaret house have dominated the gala for the past 12 years by 92 points. Cecilia house came second with 602 points, 24 points short of the leader.

The girls competed in different sports disciplines that included athletics, basketball, netball, high jump, long jump, volleyball, chess, table tennis among others.

Some of the outstanding performances of the day came from athletics where Cecilia Nakatudde from Alix house won gold in the 1500 and 3000m races.

Lillian Nvanungi from Cecilia house was also a class apart in the 100 and 200m sprints while Goretti's Tracy Paparu was outstanding in the one and two-lap 400 and 800m races.

The girls competed according to their houses of residence which include Thereza, Monica, Margaret, Alix, Goretti and Cecilia.

Trinity college Nabbingo is home to over 1700 girls and is in partnership with the Digital Yearbook an organisation that offers schools a platform to archive and share memories.
