Thomas Opio was in sublime form, scoring four goals as Wananchi defeated Simba 6-1 in the National Hockey League on Sunday at the National Hockey Stadium in Lugogo.

Opio opened the scoring in the second minute of the game as Wananchi reigned supreme to remain unbeaten in a riveting second round contest.

Derrick Akuwa and William Oketcha scored a goal apiece while Stewart Kavuma got a consolation for the lacklustre Simba.

Weatherhead remain on course to defend their league title following a 15-0 triumph over Historicals. Leaders Weatherhead and Wananchi are level on 16 points, only separated by goal difference.

Timothy Ntumba imposed himself on the game, scoring seven goals. This took the inform player's tally to 11 goals, level with Wananchi's Emmanuel Baguma.

Vincent Kasasa scored five goals as Moses Tushabe, Peter Elolu and Ahmed Muteesasira got on the scoresheet with one goal apiece.

In the women's category, Kampala Swans impressed as they picked up their first win of the season, a 2-0 win against Rhino.
