Josef Salan returned 72nett to join the long list of the Castle Lite Entebbe monthly Mug competition that is becoming unpredictable by the day with almost a new winner every month.
Salan who was competing in his fourth mug competition this year, beat 50 golfers to the top mug to move a step closer to the top competition who all, apart from Twinemanzi Tumubweinee who was runner up in Group B, returned to the podium.
All the previous winners since January were nowhere in the picture, which promises an interesting contest towards the overall placing at the end of the year.
Leader John Muchiri together with Ronnie Kasirye, Daniel Opwonya, Jacob Byamukama, Perry Musiime, Charles Kabunga Andrew Baguma, Moses Ssebugwawo and Robbins Mwehaire who are among the top ten were not anywhere near the podium.
Paul Kasozi Kazenga beat Twinemanzi by a stroke to win Group B while Dennis Oola was two strokes ahead of M.Z Kitta in Group C
Barnabas Bakamutumaho who beat Ronnie Kasirye on count-back in Group B last month just like Hannington Mpiima and Fred Kasumba in Group C who returned a uniform score of 72 and 74 net respectively are also vying for the championship.
In the ladies category Rita Akot Apell brightened her chances of winning the overall mug when she beat Irene Nakelembe by a stroke and topping the May competition.
The likes of Pamela Tumusiime, Maxi Byenkya, Rita Akot Apell, Moureen Okura and Rhoda Tumusiime who are chasing for the title and are among the top contestants in the rankings, and have exchanged podium positions in all the other monthly tournaments since the year began will now take keen interest in the coming months.
