Uganda has joined the rest of the world to mark World Malaria Day under the theme, ‘Ready to beat malaria’ at Mpigi police grounds in Mpigi district.

The Uganda People's Congress (UPC) party has praised government on Malaria fight.

"UPC applauds government for launching mass action against malaria project that will oversee malaria free Uganda," said Michael Osinde, UPC spokesperson while addressing journalist at Uganda House Kampala on Wednesday.

Uganda has joined the rest of the world to mark World Malaria Day under the theme, ‘Ready to beat malaria' at Mpigi police grounds in Mpigi district.

Osinde advised that as we celebrate, we must be fully aware that malaria has beaten us several times and left us bruised and in agony which has resulted into great loss of our beloved ones.

"At this point, we should not only look at treatment of malaria, but also preventive measures that are sustainable," he said.

The party tasked government to prioritize preventive strategies and the national primary health care systems to have enough medical personnel at all levels from health centers to national referral hospitals.
