Makerere College came close, but not close enough as Namilyango College sucessfully defended their School's Rugby U-19 trophy 5-3 at Kyadondo Rugby Club.

Both teams were in the same pool in the prelimiaries although Namilyango won each of the ties 6-3 and 13-16 respectively. So competition between both teams was going to be even on the day.

The anchors took early control of the possession although they did not create much in the first half. They found themselves in unchartered territory at Kyadondo as MACOS had brought a large cheer leading crew that threw them off a bit.

They went into the break evenly  poised at 0-0, and with the muddy pitch making life harder for the two sets of players.

The second half saw more of what happened in the first half and it became clear that the match was to be low scoring. Midway through the second half, an opening arose and Namilyango fullback Karim Arinaitwe scored the only try of the match.

It gave then a lifeline, but MAKOS scored a penalty which set the match up for an anxious finish. Namilyango went on to win the match, but MAKOS could have also won it had the taken advantage of the power in their front row.

"Games between MACOS and Ngo have been that hard this year so we prepared for it, once the equaliser (rain) came into play again we had to dig deep and win our game, " Namilyango coach Ambrose Kakuru said.

Namilyango's U-17 defeated St.Mary's College Kisubi by 11-0 to successfully defend their title from last year.

SMACK took the boys under 15 competition with a drop goal against King's College Budo.
