If all goes according to plan, the shift from analogue to digital weather forecasting recently, will see Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA) attain the latest International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certification. ISO certification refers to the standards set for professional practices internationally.

The certification has always been crucial in building public confidence in services delivery more so when it comes to professions like weathercasting. According to the Executive Director of Uganda Meteorological Authority (UNMA) Dr Festus Luboyera, the authority is set to receive the latest ISO certification in September. UNMA will attain the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems, an upgrade from the earlier milestone of ISO certification 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems.

Meeting such standards is now more crucial now than ever before, due to challenges posed by climate change. Luboyera, who is also Uganda's permanent representative to the World Meteorology Organization (WMO) says with the latest quality mark, all UNMA work is expected to adhere to the latest ISO standard. CLICK HERE FOR MORE ON THIS STORY
