SC Villa beat ten man Bright Stars 2-0 at Wankulukuku stadium to progress to the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup. Two half time goals from George Senkaaba and Godfrey Lwesibawa were enough to give SC Villa a win
Villa are vying for a double this season and they are currently top of the Azam Uganda Premier League with 37 points.
"We have been struggling to score goals, but at least there is an improvement in the team," Villa assistant coach Paul Mutakabala said.
Bright Stars who struggled throughout the entire game to create chances, were reduced to ten men in the second half when Moses Okot was sent off for a foul on SC Villa defender Joseph Nsubuga.
"My players were cautious since we have a league game in a few days to come. Some mistakes in the defence also cost us," Bright Stars coach Paul Kiwanuka said.
This year's final will be held in June in Kumi district. Winners of the Uganda Cup represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.
