USPA members voted Pirates rugby team as sports personality for the month November following their 31-20 defeat of Heathens in the Uganda Cup final and 26-13 defeat of the same team in league last month.

"We have never been recognised before in rugby circles, but I am very excited and this recognition is a motivation to the boys not only against Mongers on Saturday, but to win more games and claim the league," Musinguzi stated.

"Winning such accolades is a sign of appreciation and I am humbled by such recognition because it drives us to go for more and maintain the status," Musinguzi added.

To win the accolade, Pirates got 240 points to beat rally driver Christakis Fitidis (220pts) by 20 points and body builder Isaac Mubikirwa who got 215 points.

Fitidis finished fifth in the MOSAC rally to win the 2017 National Rally Championship (NRC), while Mubikirwa won the Mr. Uganda body building championship.

In the same assembly USPA, president Sabiiti Muwanga urged members to be more professional while conducting their duties in order to uplift the image of the association and media houses they are employed.

He also urged members to take up the opportunities available like education scholarships and other training opportunities.

"Our partnership with Buganda Royal Institute is offering you free diplomas in Journalism and other fields, you should take up such opportunities because they are useful to your future," Muwanga said.

USPA activities are supported by Nile Special, Standard Chartered Bank, CityTyres and KCCA FC.
