Mengo says they will maintain the closure of Mutesa I Royal University until investigations into the cause of the strike is done.

Buganda prime minister Katikkiro Peter Mayiga said they have appointed a team to investigate what caused the strike and come up with recommendations.

"Investigations are still ongoing. The University will be opened as soon as investigations are done. We do not want the same thing to be repeated in future," he said.

The university was closed on September 26 after students rioted and vandalised the administration block.

The students accused the university leadership of failing to address their grieviences. They also accused the university vice-chancellor, Prof. Arthur Sserwanga, of neglecting the main campus in Masaka.

The university was founded by the Kingdom of Buganda in 2007. It has three campuses in Kakeeka-Mengo, Mubende and Masaka.
