Soroti pupils skip school over soiled classrooms

Pupils noted that they had not attended any classes due to lack of where to sit

110 P5 pupils of Opuyo Primary School in Soroti Sub County in Soroti district were since Monday left stranded after unknown people defecated in their classroom.

Rev. Samuel Enyimu Awilo the priest in charge of the school said he suspected that fellow pupils could have done the deed adding that it was not the first time that such an incident had happened.

He condemned the action saying it affected classes.

New Vision caught up with pupils David Etiu and Moses Kinya who noted that they had not attended any classes due to lack of where to sit.

Simon Emoru Anango the district inspector of schools when contacted over the matter said although the incident had happened before, he had not received any report from the head teacher of the school.

Opuyo head teacher Grace Acakara said she was looking for ways of addressing the matter.

Jackson Edau the PTA chairperson however called for an urgent meeting on today to address the matter and other problems affecting the school.
