Despite losing five key players, Kawempe Muslim coach Ayub Khalifah feels his side is still in contention to defend the title they've won for the last three seasons.
The Kampala side saw Ruth Aturo, Hasifa Nassuna, Yudaya Nakayenze depart the club to join Uganda Christian University (UCU) on scholarships. They will also feature for the UCU Lady Cardinals in the league.
Favour Nambatya joined Muteesa University while Joan Nakirya went for a professional stint with Redland Community College located in Oklahoma, USA. Aturo, Nassuna, Nakayenze and Nakirya are also national team players.
"We lost the players but not the spirit. We are now rebuilding a new team which I believe can defend the title. We have promoted five players from our junior team that won the Kampala region league. We are confident that we shall perform well," stated Khalifah.
The 2017/18 season will kick off on Saturday and all the 15 clubs were drawn into two groups (Victoria and Elizabeth).
London Stallions are yet to submit the minimum requirements for club licensing and have been given until Thursday to send them in.
Muteesa Royal will host Ajax Queens in the opening game of the league this Saturday at Wankulukuku.
