U18 teams risk losing points for fielding overage players

Clubs that use mercenaries in the ongoing FUFA Junior U18 League risk losing points and facing fines.

This comes after reports surfaced claiming that some clubs have resorted to using overage players.

When contacted, youth football development officer Bashir Mutyaba cast doubt on the allegations but warned that if any club is engaged in the practice, the law will take its course.

"At the moment I have no idea about that. But if any club is caught doing that, they will be fined and lose points. If there are any complaints from any clubs let them bring those players who they suspect so that we screen them again," stated Mutyaba.

The FUFA Junior League was designed to cater for players under 18 years and this was a requirement for all the 16 Uganda Premier League sides if they were to be licensed for the new season.
